Aggelos is a Sidescrolling Adventure, similar to Links Adventure, Battle of Olympus or Wonder Boy 2 and 3. Altough it reminds me the most of Battle of Olympus. So you control your little hero like any 2D Platformer, but instead of stomping enemies, you slash them with your sword. The world isn't divided by level sections, but is connected with doors and paths.
Defeating enemies gets you XP and they drop gold or sometimes hearts, which replenish your health. Levelups automatically increases your Defense and Attack Power, but there isn't anything else that levels up.
Still this is more than you had in these classic Adventures. Another thing that boosts your Defense and Attack Power is the Swords or Armor you can buy , and maybe find in the world.

I have a little cut in the video because i got a little los... ehm i meant, i were going Adventuring. I honestly remembered that there is this door, but i couldn't remember where it was. So i was "adventuring" for 6 minutes until i found it. So it's not a bit cut, but an explanation, why i suddenly got a jump on the Gold Counter.

But in the end, i found the first dungeon and nearly survived the boss. If i would've died, i guess i would've respawned at the last save point. Which means in older games, that all i accomplished after that save point is lost, except for my personal experience.
