Only went up to about 100k points for the demonstration but you can do this as long as you want.

This is caused by a glitch which causes the number of hourglasses to underflow, by dying while you have 2 left during the animation when the man is flipping one over. This freezes the timer, allowing you to milk the trampoline men without the risk of timing out and game overing. If you destroy the gun on the rear of the train, you can do this without risking any damage as well. When you die again it completely refills your hourglass bar. This can be done on any boss that shoots projectiles that can be hit for points, but this is probably the most egregious example, as it gives so many points so quickly with zero risk.

I'd estimate you'd need to do this for 30-45 minutes to put yourself safely on 1m pace (assuming the game doesn't counterstop at 999,999, I've never tested that but maybe I should.)
