Yeah, this is really not something that anyone should be "heartbroken" about. Wait, why do you have "bought" in quotations?

Regardless, in case you don't know, Perplexity is an AI chat bot, and this person is sad that an AI chat bot cannot read the Amazon Kindle book, presumably because this person wants Perplexity to summarize it or assist him on reading the book, which is fine. You do you, but this is not something I reveal to social media and tell people, "Hey, I don't actually read books. I have an AI to summarize it for me."

This happens due to Kindle's new DRM policies that prevent access to it, which can be bypassed with certain tools. I think it's best for you to follow what Perplexity asked for and just manually copy a portion of the text and have them summarize it for you. I don't see you being on a mobile device here. It looks pretty desktop to me.

Otherwise, just actually read it and not have the AI to summarize it for you. This happens way too many times when I see people online say, "I read 100 books a week," and then it turns out that they're using services that summarize the books rather than, you know, actually read it.

At least with audiobooks, the content of the book remains the same, and I can tell you for a fact that listening to Bill Nighy narrating how James Bond tries to take down a billionaire Nazi scientist (which is available on YouTube) is a way better experience than reading the Wikipedia plot summary or especially watching what basically amounts to 007 Star Wars. Seriously, movie Moonraker sucks. The book version is way better. Go read that instead, or have Davy Jones read it for you on YouTube.
