This interview was recorded as an episode of the /r/retrogaming Podcast in 2016, but has never been published. Al talks about everything that Sega had its hands in during his time there as the head of marketing: Genesis, Mega Drive, Sega CD, 32X, and more. The interview also focuses on his part in Blake J. Harris' book "Console Wars," and the divisions between Sega of America and Sega of Japan.

The first part of this interview focuses largely on the second generation of video games and Al's time as a buyer at J.C. Penney, and head of marketing for the Mattel Intellivision.

In this interview, Al lets it slip that Sega was very close to releasing the Atari Lynx.

Please excuse the audio issues. Al's beard was brushing against his mic, an issue we didn't detect while recording.
