Alfyn's default class is really good by itself. His Concoct ability is really useful for turn 1 divine skills and for hitting various enemies with elemental damage and status. (The elemental damage themselves are pretty weak, but is really useful for shield breaks)

His Divine skill allows you to use items on the whole party. You can combine this with Pomegranates to spam Divine skills for boss battles.

Last Stand is his most notable and useful skill. It has a built in Fortitude like effect, in which the lower his health, the more damage he does. Combined with Fortitude and a few other skills, Alfyn can hit extremely hard during the first round. Just make sure not to get hit.

As for subclass, you can literally run anything on Alfyn. I like the Warrior subclass because it makes him look like Olberic's student and gives a small ATK boost.
