Alice: Madness Returns Part 15: Run, You Fool
So, after running around looking for a way back, I decided to just say “Screw it” and continue onwards towards the massive Ship-in-a-bottle. Once we reach there, we find out that the Mock Turtle was fired from his job at the train station (although I think we already knew that) and changed from using Trains to commandeering a ship instead. It seems this game doesn’t like us being in vehicles because, as you might’ve guessed, we get attacked. The reason I’m telling you this is because it Segways into a rather odd side-scrolling vehicle mission that involves us shooting the wooden Sharks and evil crabs with massive cannons and cigars (Again, another weird phrase I thought I would never be saying). For the most part, the controls are relatively okay (I had some issues with control battery which shows off how professional I can be). Overall, it was a nice linear minigame that I didn’t really expect (or even remembered) in this hack-and-slash styled game. After our little voyage, the Turtle gives us an invitation to go and see the Carpenter’s show which seems to be playing in a nearby town. For those who have never read/watched Alice in Wonderland, you’ll have very little idea to whom that is and why the Mock Turtle just brings him up somewhat randomly but, I do assure you that he and a rather large Walrus are in fact part of the original source. It does seem a little odd to just randomly bring it up like that, like they only changed the subject to progress the plot forward.
