Alice: Madness Returns Part 39: One Helpful Executioner
So, after completing the first chess puzzle, we then continue to make our way through the Queen’s castle or, I guess at this point I should start calling them ruins because there doesn’t seem to be much left. Either way, our adventure goes on as we discover some new kinds of puzzles; Not sure if I’ve already mentioned this before but, the game introduces several puzzles that utilizes counter weights as platforms. Standing or throwing a Rabbit-bomb onto one of the two weights causes the other to raise and allow us to get to higher areas. At first, I thought these puzzles were relatively straightforward (stand on one, jump to the other, profit) but, as I found out, sometimes getting back to one of the weights before they start to descend is a little harder than I thought originally. Some of these puzzles have very large holes that cause an instant death if you fall into them. On top of that, it also seems as though some of the weights return back to normal much faster than others (I’m going to assume that isn’t the case, it simply felt like they were which meant I was more panicked trying complete the puzzle). I will mention that I did find it interesting and little frustrating that Alice is heavier than the bombs we drop (If a bomb is on one side and Alice on the other, Alice’s weight would be falling down); It’s cool they put that into account but, while I was trying to get across, the weight that I would jump on would almost immediately start to fall. Regardless of how awful I was trying to clear these puzzles, I managed to scrap by otherwise this would be a very big letdown; watching all of this way to seem me fail these puzzles and give.
