Alien Isolation! Crew Expendable & Last Survivor DLC - Halloween Retro 2023
3This was another highly recommended horror game to play for Halloween. I'm glad the chat voted for this since I've been wanting to play it for so many years. The Alien franchise doesn't have the best track record, but this game goes above and beyond on the passion level. Everything is so faithful to the original movies, from the sounds, music to the 8-bit details of the "future" technology. You'll be instantly immersed if you're an Alien fan. This is a hide-and-seek style of gameplay where you have very limited tools to survive with while being constantly stalked by the xenomorph. I screamed so many times, lol, but slowly started understanding how to avoid being detected by using my tracker and crawling my way through vents. There are a lot of cool hacking sequences to open doors that are simple in practice, but the pressure of being vulnerable adds a great sense of tension. Just making it to a save gives me a huge sigh of relief. The only big downside of the game is that I feel like it's really forcing itself to be a long game. You'll definitely notice how things get drawn out in the story to the point where you kind of go numb after being terrified for so long. Still, I thought this was an awesome game, and I hope a sequel comes out one day. We also check out some of the DLC with Crew Expendable and Last Survivor. These missions are both based off of the original Alien movie with the same characters. They're short and pretty cool but we played it on Nightmare difficulty which I didn't know removes the map lol. This made it slightly annoying on knowing what to do but we still had fun.
