Alternative BAD Endings: DuckTales, on the Nintendo Entertainment System. A demonstration and guide (see below) on how to get the worst possible outcome in DuckTales. For most players, you either got Ducktales' best ending (over $10'000'000, or it's standard good ending. Intentional or otherwise, Capcom left in a scenario that equates to Scrooge McDuck's worst nightmare.

To get DuckTales' truly BAD Ending, it requires finishing with a total of $0. This seems impossible at first, as treasures gained from clearing each level, nets $1'000'000, plus any time bonus. It also requires careful progression, as to not collect any diamonds scattered throughout. So how do you get your total money down to $0? By spending it to regenerate your health!

DuckTales has a secret ability where you can fully heal Scrooge, provided you have over $3'000'000 in total money. I say secret, because there is no mention of it in the game's manual. Using this secret ability by pressing 'Select', it is possible to finish DuckTales, with NO money. This means getting all treasures from clearing each level in under three seconds, and one of two hidden treasures for $6'000'000. All you have to do now, is heal yourself twice after taking damage. Finishing DuckTales with no money, reveals a very different ending.

In DuckTales' BAD Ending, Scrooge is depressed, with his vast fortune now gone in finding all the treasures. Quite why Scrooge is bankrupt, despite clearly finding numerous treasures, is a mystery. Another strange oversight is Huey, Dewey and Louie acting the same in all three of DuckTales' endings. Scrooge still proclaims to be the richest duck in the world, despite having to rebuild his empire. It must be a metaphorical meaning...
