One minute review of AM2R:
This fan remake of Metroid 2 Return of Samus, presents many nods to classic elements of the series as well as new bosses, without making it feel forced. Samus Aran is tasked to kill all Metroids on their home world, SR388. Art style and music are gorgeous and memorable, and navigating through the various environments feels natural in both aspects. The map is filled as you explore SR388 and each area has a flashed out theme and unique challenges. Controls for movement and combat are even better than Zero Mission, plus, a scan feature gives you additional optional context. Although this is the game in which Samus gets the most powerful with her suit, the level design is always perfectly tailored to her abilities. AM2R is so good you could say it's an official release, and in my opinion it's the best 2D Metroid game.
