Titanfall still stands.
I wanted to make this video mainly because in the most recent weeks Titanfall 2 is finally working again in matchmaking, so as you can imagine we are going to talk about what happened with the Titanfall hacking scene, but I also want to touch on EA's handling of the IP and Apex Legends, if you enjoy this video remember to leave a like and subscribe for more variety gaming content!

Alright, so what happened with these hackers? The state of Titanfall 1 especially on PC has been atrocious for over a year, servers are targeted by ddos attacks which cripple their ability to let pilots play online. This issue also recently surfaced on all platforms for Titanfall 2, in fact as you can see from this clip, as soon as you entered in a match everything seemed like it was frozen in time, and all I could do was just turn around and watch the environment. Right off the back the first thing that comes to my mind is.. is it that easy to attack servers of corporations as big as EA? Shouldn't they have strong countermeasures in play to avoid these kind of things from happening? But aside from this, on July 4th 2021, Apex Legends was also attacked by a supposedly different group of hackers, which performed a different type of attack, in which the main menu of Apex Legends would only walk you into the savetitanfall.com website instead of letting you play the game. The main menu would tell “Titanfall is being attacked, and so also Apex Legends is”, and while at the time it seemed that this hack was made as an effort to publicly highlight the unplayable state of Titanfall and Titanfall 2, it seems that instead everything was part of a different plan: the hackers of Titanfall and Apex Legends were the same group, of which the objective was to blackmail EA, and force them into sending them Titanfall source code so that they could complete the scrapped Titanfall Online project themselves. Titanfall Online was meant to be some sort of Spin-off of the series and as much as I know, it actually turned into Apex Legends.
Like, we all know that EA's handling of Titanfall has been atrocious since Titanfall 2 launched, but this is not the way to go. First, it's beyond illegal to do something like this, second, it's very unlikely that big companies such as EA or Respawn would actually submit to blackmailing, and most importantly, those hackers downright made unplayable the only two Titanfall games that exist! EA themselves have been sitting on the hacked games without doing anything about them in the first place, so who was really hurt by all this situation? Titanfall fans! It's mere luck that the hackers decided to revert their hacks of Titanfall 2 and make it playable again, but as far as I know Titanfall 1 still remains broken because of these guys. I totally understand the frustration that can come from EA's handling of Titanfall, which I will talk about in a minute, but making the game unplayable is only going to piss everyone off. On the other hand, I can't stand the fact that Titanfall 2 launched squashed between Battlefield and Call of Duty in 2016, with nearly zero marketing, and this probably lead EA to put the IP aside, which in turn, when Apex Legends launched as a Spin-Off of the series, made it the new focus of the Titanfall universe. It was EA themselves to doom the sales of Titanfall 2, it was them that have assigned just two people to work on the Titanfall games at Respawn, which also means that Titanfall 3 is not in development, and it was them that did nothing at all when hackers made the game unplayable. Like I said the hackers where completely wrong in their behavior, but their actions were a direct response to how EA is treating Titanfall and its fanbase.
So, what's the point of this video? Well, play some Titanfall 2 until it's online, because you never know if some crazy hacker will kill it, or if EA themselves will pull the plug to the servers, and most of all, play it so that maybe EA notices more interest in the title and decides to finally make Titanfall 3!
