Hands-on review with Amazon's 'All New' entry level Kindle (10th Generation), fresh for 2019 - now with screen lighting so you can read in the dark. After unboxing and taking a tour of this budget-friendly e-reader, we also compare vs last year's version to see what's new.

The new basic Kindle costs £69 in the UK, direct from Amazon, for the 4GB WiFi version. That makes this the first eReader from the family to come with an illuminating display for under £100, and significantly cheaper than other models such as the Paperwhite.

Like last year's model, you get a 6-inch e-Ink screen with 167ppi resolution, along with that anti-glare coating. There's no option for a cellular model but you have WiFi support to download books from the Kindle store, plus Bluetooth for listening to audiobooks.

Our unboxing and hands-on review shows off this 2019 model's features, as well as the official Amazon cover to keep it in pristine condition. So far I'm loving this 10th-gen device; it's definitely the best budget eReader right now, offering a comfortable reading experience in any conditions, plus all of the usual tools found on more premium models such as the Paperwhite and Oasis.
