PubG Mobile seemed to be a pretty good way of reviewing the performance of this well-specced £500 handset, from Xiaomi's sub-brand. The Black Shark 2 handles PGM well, although you will still see some dropped frames when in-vehicle. Even with the Ludicrous Mode active in our tests, this drop in frame rate was still evident. Still, this 2019 gaming phone offered smooth performance the rest of the time, while the handset remained rather cool. Even a prolonged gaming session didn't cause the phone's battery to heat up beyond 31-degrees.
The Black Shark 2 supports full notification blocking and also offers the nifty Magic Touch feature. This can be used to set up pressure-sensitive controls, which is ideal for the likes of PubG Mobile. However, we'd still highly recommend grabbing a physical joypad to really stand a chance over the best competition.
