The Samsung S10 Plus costs from £899 here in the UK, which is even more expensive than the £869 Google phone. Still, we prefer the look and feel of the Galaxy, while it boasts several great features missing from the Pixel 3 XL.
So for instance, the S10+ packs in an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, excellent face recognition, a fresher chipset, more RAM and expandable storage - stuff all missing from its rival here. That said, you won't get the same timely Android updates, while Samsung's One UI isn't for everyone.
In our performance benchmark tests, the Galaxy S10 Plus clearly beats the Pixel 3 XL - although they're closely matched for battery life and recharge speeds. As for the optics, Samsung has stuffed in a triple-lens camera with 4K HDR support, while Google goes for a more streamlined, single-lens shooter. Which is best for photo and video quality?
