Intel will continue to face stiff competition from AMD, as the company have revealed that Ryzen was a worst case scenario, and the new ryzen cpus (build on the Zen 2 / Zen+ architecture) will be notably faster, featuring higher IPC and more aggressive clock speeds.

Also, AMD have revealed that ThreadRipper started off as a passion project, and that the company hadn't even intended to release threadripper at all during 2017. In fact, originally only Ryzen and Epyc CPUS had been planned,
