Analysis of Intel’s Glue | A Dive Into EMIB - Embedded Multi Die Interconnect Bridge
Intel's own version of AMD's Embedded multi-die interconnect bridge has a number of differences , but the key purpose of the technology is very similar - to enable Intel to produce larger, more complex and efficient chip designs than what would be possible using the traditional monolithic design.
EMIB (Embedded Multi-die interconnect bridge) allows intel to create processors in a similar concept to how you might construct something out of lego. Parts come together to form a whole, allowing different IO controllers, gpus and processors to slot together and this allows processor designs to be more flexible. It's only a matter of time before we start seeing these designs take off more and more in Intel's various roadmaps, including desktop computers and servers using Xeon.
