I am just doing this for review purposes off the job. And because it was a gift.
Synopsis:
"New York City, Spring 1900.
Jake Gold a Jewish migrant works in a sweatshop during the day to provide for himself and his family to come a little bit closer to "The American Dream" and fights in a gang during the night. Even though Jake Gold wants to get a better life for himself and his family. He can't escape the daily routine and the struggles of living on the streets of New York City that won't get away any time soon. Until one night, one experiment changes his life forever"
Final verdict: If you are familiar with American comics and history. Some things are quite familiar. Some things have been done before.
It's not entirely my cup of tea.
But I am impressed with how many things they were able to put into American Dreams and Jake Gold's origin story and execute it better than any American publisher so far.
If you like these types of superhero origin stories. This is a must buy. For me it didn't quite convince me to save money for the second one. That honour goes to The Starling.
75/100. Not breaking new grounds . But still. Impressive.
Next we're going to do my personal favourite of the freebies. The Starling is upon us.
