An Open Letter to Baldur's Gate 3 Critics
24I had to get this off my chest. When I saw that people were critiquing the game not on actual problems that exist in the game, but because it "sets a standard," I lost my mind. Baldur's Gate 3 is not anomalous, it isn't doing anything new and the supposed "standard" it sets isn't anything new. It's an old standard that gamers and game developers used to understand at a core level: fun and creativity above all. Do nothing to detract from the experience. It just so happens that excessive monetization and publishing formulaic, copy-pasta games (something AAA developers love doing) detracts from the experience. Who would've thought?
