Andamiro Pump It Up Phoenix - Gameplay, Operator Menu & Scoring - Review (v1.01.0 INT)
18This was my first time trying Pump It Up Phoenix. It was announced on May 10th, 2023 and released on 17 July 2023 after 4 year and 7 month wait (The longest wait for a Pump it Up game yet!).
This game costs over $2000 USD (Upgrade kit) and was released with only 20 new songs with a lot of features removed from it's previous version: XX
It was a rush job with very little content. The website says 'coming soon' on pretty much everything. Will it live up to be something special? Who knows!
Removed from XX:
- Mission Mode
- The Pump It Up Scoring system (Combo-based scoring)
- VJ (Judgement)
- RANK mode
- Random Train
- Gimmicks for easier charts
- Online matching
- Machine highscores
- Operator menu options to adjust hearts/credits etc
Added:
- 26 new songs, including 4 new co-op charts (as of v1.01.0). Only 20 new songs upon initial release
- Normal and Premium mode (It's just a sneaky way to charge more for credits by restricting content)
- PASS mode - You get 5 misses and the song is over
- Scoring system; similar to DDR

Pump It Up (Korean: 펌프 잇 업; RR: Peompeu it eop) is a music video game series developed and published by Andamiro, a Korean arcade game producer. The game is similar to Dance Dance Revolution, except that it has five arrow panels as opposed to four, and is typically played on a dance pad with five arrow panels: the top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right, and a center. Additional gameplay modes may utilize two five-panel pads side by side. These panels are pressed using the player's feet, in response to arrows that appear on the screen in front of the player. The arrows are synchronized to the general rhythm or beat of a chosen song, and success is dependent on the player's ability to time and position their steps accordingly.
The original version of the game was originally released in South Korea on September 20, 1999. The game has also been released in other markets, such as North America, South America, and Europe. Pump It Up 2019 XX: 20th Anniversary Version is the latest version of the series, released on January 7, 2019, in Latin American countries. Pump It Up has tried to cater more to freestyle players than "technical" players with more freestyle-friendly charts, and as a result, the game has more of a culture in the freestyle and breakdancing disciplines. However, the game still caters well to technical players with a vast array of high-difficulty songs and stepcharts.
On May 10th, 2023, Andamiro announced the latest installment called Pump It Up 2023 Phoenix.
