🎓In this video Andrew Voss shares his #journey from #SpaceX #engineer to #educational innovator, driven by a passion for #handsonlearning, interdisciplinary #learning that he found lacking in traditional #education systems. His transition was significantly influenced by the encounter with Joshua Dahn, director and co-founder of Ad Astra School @ SpaceX.

In 2019, during my school admission, I shared the idea of 🚀#rocketry #club activity project, incorporating theoretical parts of #orbital #mechanics and rocketry terminology with the #KSP 👽 Kerbal Space Program. As the school transitioned to Astra Nova School online, and Andrew began leading activities, I joined his class and have since considered him my mentor and rocketry coach.

Here are my take away from his talk:
⭕ Hands-on Experience and the value of practical, hands-on projects over traditional classroom learning. His experience at Vanderbilt's rocket team and observation of successful colleagues at SpaceX highlighted the importance of real-world, project-based experiences.
⭕ Collaborative Skills: Success at SpaceX and in the broader engineering field requires excellent collaborative skills, including communication, problem-solving, and owning up to mistakes.
⭕ Prioritizes innovative, project-based learning, and reinforces his commitment to transforming education.
⭕ The Tiger Team Philosophy: Drawing from #NASA and #SpaceX, in education, engaging #students in real, meaningful problems to develop their skills in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
⭕ Personal Growth and Teaching Advice: Reflecting on his journey, Andrew encourages educators to adapt to each student's unique needs and interests, highlighting the importance of relationship-building and adaptability in effective teaching.
⭕ Memorable Moments and Advice for Students: empowering moments at Astra Nova and advice to students entering rocketry or engineering fields: seek challenges, embrace discomfort, value community, and prioritize ethical conduct and kindness.

👉 If you have any further questions for Andrew on this topic, please feel free to write them in the comments below. Your comments and questions not only enrich the conversation but also provide valuable insights for everyone interested in this subject.
