The sales rep assured me this microphone would pick up less background noise than my Yeti USB mic. This (XLR) microphone seems to pick up just as much background noise and only works in one channel (versus being in stereo). Still... I almost like how the sound ended up being in this video. (minus that background noise) The background noise is my laptop working its nuts off to keep up with 1080p / 60fps recording. (it's not really working "that" hard, but the fans kick in once the processor reaches a certain temp... It actually only uses about a quarter of the computer's processing power... I use monitoring software to keep an eye on all of that)

I will try some things to see if I can improve the sound quality, but I'm pretty annoyed at the issue with the background noise.

Some background on this video: I ordered this microphone setup a week ago and had been greatly anticipating it. I worked all day and didn't get to test it out until after midnight. The first tests were not good, and the sales rep had misinformed me about which microphone this setup came with. (it's my fault for not researching better, but at a certain point, it would be nice to be able to trust the sales guy...) This video was my natural (and exhausted) reaction to the initial test recordings. I originally wasn't going to publish this... I was just going to upload it and listen in "private" mode, so I could have an accurate grasp on how the recording would sound for listeners, once it was uploaded to the Internet. Anyway, I somehow kind of liked the video and published it. I've decided to start posting my "fail" videos that amuse me.
