A fully functional Antonov An-225 "Mriya" Add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 Release which was originally ported over from an FSX release but has had substantial changes made to the code, flight model, and detailing to be compatible with the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator release.

The developer based this MSFS 2020 release on an original FSX release by Fly Away Simulation available here:
https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/3242/fsx-antonov-an-225-mriya-complete/

While essentially everything is based on that release, many code changes, textures changes, and flight model changes have been made to ensure the package is compatible with the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 release.

The An-225 is a super-large cargo aircraft built out of Antonov in the USSR (now Ukraine). There was only ever one model built and the real-world version enjoys landings in super-remote locations on all different kinds of runways (including ice and snow).

The An-225 is a huge cargo aircraft built by Antonov in the USSR era and currently maintained by the Ukrainian Antonov company in Kyiv (and only one was ever made) and has become popular with "av-geeks" and aviation enthusiasts alike. The aircraft boasts 6 engines which are truly unique for a cargo aircraft of its kind - a true behemoth to fly both in the real world and of course within the sim.

In 2022 during the "Russian Special Military Operation" in Ukraine, the only existing AN-225 was destroyed in a reported intentional bombing strike. This AN-225 was the only one in existence, so at the moment this aircraft does not exist in the real world. The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vowed to rebuild this stunning aircraft that has become world-famous as a tribute to all pilots killed during the "war" In November 2022, Antonov confirmed plans to rebuild the aircraft at an estimated cost of $500 million. There was no confirmation of whether parts of the original aircraft would be used or the entire airframe and aircraft would be built from scratch for AN-225 #2.

Because of Microsoft Flight Simulator limitations, the engines have been scaled down to only 4 but the original aircraft had 6 engines. Perhaps Microsoft will expand the sim in the future and include support for more engines.

The textures of the liveries are all pretty much as they were in FSX but the developer hopes to upscale them for HD support of MSFS.

The 3D VC (virtual cockpit) is based on the default 747-8 while the developer looks into how to support the FSX 3D VC of the An-225. The cockpit is adequate for normal flights and is indeed fully functional.

Installation is easy and instructions are included in the pack and the developer also has announced the package is compatible with Sim Update 5.

Compatibility with Sim Update 5 confirmed.

The file is released as freeware which means it is free to download and use.

This video was created in Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 Release.
