This isn’t my first attempt to demystify the world of Dark Souls, I completed Dark Souls 2 and all its DLC in a previous series and think I made it look relatively easy. There is a slight difference with its sequel though - I’ve never actually completed Dark Souls 3. And I found it really tough when I played it.

So we’re doing this again: I play through the game, you watch, realise it’s not as bad as you thought and you give it a go. I highly recommend that all gamers give Dark Souls a go, it’s the whole reason I made this series, because it has some of the best moment in gaming in terms of bringing back the excitement of youth to video games. Dark Souls takes me back to being 10 years old playing Ocarina of Time in my pyjamas feeling like a tiny person in a dark and cruel world . . . playing Zelda. There are few games that take me back as far or as convincingly as the Dark Souls series does and it’s why I am such a big fan. Even though they make you suffer, just a tiny bit, they offer a reward that few games can compete with.

So come along and join me as I journey to Lothric Castle as the unkindled, pursuing the Lords of Cinder - as I try to figure out what the first half of this sentence means. Seriously, the lore of this game is a hellscape.
