Apache Crews Receive Afghanistan Medals 09.05.13
Airborne soldiers who manned the Apache attack helicopter in Afghanistan have received their medals from the Prince of Wales today.
The Colonel in Chief of the Army Air Corps met troops who served alongside his son, Prince Harry, in a ceremony at Wattisham Flying Station in Suffolk.
662 Squadron Army Air Corps, which was boosted by Reservist Ground Crew for the tour, returned from Camp Bastion in January.
They were the latest rotation of troops from 3 Regiment, which along with 4 Regiment, has provided a continuous Apache attack presence in Afghanistan since 2006.
The Prince of Wales presented about 40 soldiers for whom this deployment was their first to Op Herrick with their campaign medals. He also examined the new Wildcat helicopter, which troops from 6 Regiment Army Air Corps (Volunteers) have been involved in testing.
