British Forces in Afghanistan have handed over another base in Helmand Province.
Two and half years since the setting up of Checkpoint Abpashak, UK forces have now left it in the hands of Afghan police who shared the site.
It will be another test for Afghanistan's own security forces with the Taliban spring offensive now underway, but it continues a programme which started on Herrick 17.
Abpashak East sits on the key Neb canal, the dividing line between Helmand's population centre and the desert where insurgents are now largely based.
It is also at the junction of two important roads, and is the only point the canal can be crossed for several miles.
