The eMac made a massive impact on my generation. This simple combination of the older iMac G3 and the newer iMac G4 became a staple of mid 2000’s public schools. It on was these computers that millions of students learned useful skills like video editing, writing, and other creative applications, and I was one of them. Growing up in the 2000’s the computer labs in my schools either had the 2008 core2duo iMacs, or the 2003 eMacs; and that combination stuck around for quite some time. It took up until my later highschool years to see the last of the eMacs disappear from the computer labs, which is amazing to me. While the white iMacs came, had hardware failures, and left, the eMacs endured more than a decade of abuse by several graduating classes, and that’s amazing. I’m not the only one who looks back fondly at the emac either, alot of people in my audience seem to remember them too. Many people have been quick to point out the eMac that’s been sitting in the background of my videos for quite some time now. I bought it in march of 2017 with the express purpose of making a video on it, and after dozens of drafts I think I can finally do it justice now. So this is a look back on the eMac, one of the most influential computers out there.
