The macbook pro 2018 with touchbar is the most expensive purchase i’ve ever made. The only thing beating that will be when I get my first car in a few months. So when you’re talking about a computer that costs $1,800 us dollars, it better do just about everything right and exceed expectations wherever possible. I can say, the macbook does that for me, but i’ll have to backtrack a bit to give some context as to how I decided to drop 1,800 dollars on this laptop before proceeding to this review. As the price is so high that I need to put this at the forefront of the video.
So, I’m a freelance photographer and filmmaker; and that involves travel. I was just down in california to film an upcoming project of mine, and as part of that trip, I had to use adobe premiere and photoshop on my 2012 macbook pro. It was painful to say the least, even with the numerous upgrades I did on the computer it still would take about 15 minutes to load a single effect in photoshop; resulting in a simple edit talking about 6 hours of on and off editing to complete. Not to mention, that the older non retina displays are not colour accurate at all, making them an awful choice for photo editing, which is what I use a laptop for. So at this point I realized I was bound for an upgrade; and I know I’m going to get a sea of recommendations for cheaper windows alternatives that could blow the new macbooks out of the water in terms of specs. But personally, I care about specs quite a bit, but I also care about design, usability, durability, and mac os; and If you heavily disagree with me on my decision to get a 2018, I don’t really know how I could justify that to you.
So anyway, after struggling to do the basic tasks I need to do on the go on my 2012 macbook pro, I went to an apple store and bought a Macbook Pro 2018 with touchbar. So now I think it’s time to delve into weather or not this was a good machine for me to buy.
