Another intriguing theory connects April Fools' Day to the ancient Roman festival of Hilaria, celebrated on March 25 in honor of the goddess Cybele. This lively festival featured people donning disguises and playfully mocking one another, possibly laying the groundwork for today’s pranks.
In Scotland, the celebration evolved into a two-day affair. The first day, known as "hunting the gowk," involved sending people on ridiculous errands, while the second day, called "Tailie Day," was dedicated to playful pranks targeting people's behinds.
