I get this question all the time, if you can use the PC and PS4 at the same time. Yes you can and credit goes to Sig_Schecter for the answer.

"connect the optical to your ps4 and the usb to your pc. Will hear both systems but can only chat on the pc. If you want to chat on ps4 you’ll plug the usb into ps4 and lose everything to pc"
