So many people get caught up with the legendaries in Borderlands 3. And who wouldn't? They're arguably the strongest weapons in the game and lead to insane builds! But what about the other weapons inside Borderlands 3? Are there other unique weapons that are not legendary but nonetheless can survive in the rigors of Mayhem 3?

That's what I aim to find out in this new series: "Will It Slaughter Shaft?" I will take various unique weapons (items with blue text that are not legendaries) through the first two waves of Slaughter Shaft on TVHM and Mayhem 3, with either neutral or penalizing modifiers. For brevity, I won't do a full round. In all of my builds, I can generally tell by the first wave if it's viable or not, but I will do two waves for more data.

Based on some feedback, I have decided to test it with an Amara Phasecast build that focuses on raw gun damage in the Mystical Assault tree rather than an elemental and Ties that Bind build. The Ties that Bind builds are incredibly OP almost regardless of the weapon you use, so I feel it is not the best indicator of how a weapon performs. And if the weapon "passes" with the Phasecast build it would likely do well in a Ties that Bind build, but the converse would not necessarily be true. As always, I will show my build at the end of each video.

In this video, we take a look at the Crit, another one of Moxxi's unique weapons that can be obtained after tipping Moxxi (random chance, see link below). The Crit has a chance to drop out of your hands while reloading, but the gain is a 150% critical hit damage increase. The reload dropping issue made this a non-starter for me with Amara; but, the recent Terror ammo regen additions have made this a viable weapon without the need to reload. And boy does it kick ass. If you can land crits reliably, the weapon pretty much takes care of anything.

I got the idea for this from Reddit where someone posted about the Crit and its benefits from Terror ammo regen. I can't remember or find the post, but I wanted to give credit where credit is due.

(NOTE: For this video, I still use the Ties that Bind build because it fits well with Moxxi's weapons. Plus, doing some other testing off camera, the Crit WRECKS with a Phasecast build. Even more so, actually, than a Ties that Bind (in terms of pure damage to a singular enemy) because you can increase the crit damage drastically with some of her perks. Add in the already 150% modifier and you get the idea... It seemed more fair to test this gun without the extra crit modifiers of a Phasecast build. Finally, in my mind there is no doubt that this gun is absolutely viable Endgame, if you pair it with ammo regen. So it's not like this was a hard to pass weapon or anything!)
