I haven't gotten around to playing through Either armored core, or this game, Project Phantasma on the PS1 yet. I have fully beaten Armored Core 2 on the PS2, which was a launch game, but haven't bunkered down and just played through the ones I own on the PS1. Armored core is a tough, in-depth mech sim game that sends you on tough missions to earn cash. It also features arena battles. The whole point is to earn cash, beat mission, and buy parts to customize your mech. This is a brilliant series for those who can get into it, but it's very hard. On a good note, you can completely customize the tough default controls. I like to change them to controls similar to Descent on the PS1 where the d-pad aims, the face buttons move and sidestep, and the triggers attack. I've always been a big fan of From Software's games.
