Heavenly Sword (PS3) Gameplay
Heavenly Sword was an early exclusive PS3 game that was often used as fodder in the 7th gen fanboy flame wars. It wasn't foddered as much as Lair or Haze were, but dubbed Goddess of War, it was criticized because of it's short length. It wasn't a killer app, but it was a solid God of War clone that is worth playing. The gameplay is solid, and the art direction was unique, and beautiful. Like a game like Dante's Inferno, it would have served as a place holder to satiate GoW fan's appetites until God of War III finally hit.
The game is old enough that it predates trophy support. If you'll remember, Sony added trophies later on the PS3 to answer the Xbox 360's addition of Gamerscore.
Some early PS3 games did end up getting updates with trophy support, but Heavenly Sword was not one of them. Overall, I really like this game. Would it have justified a $600 PS3 purchase? No, but it would have definitely been worth at least a rental at the time if you owned a PS3 the time.
Ninja Theory, the developer of the game would later go on to release Enslaved: Odyssey to the West which is another solid overlooked title for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. It might be more well known now, but at the time, Enslaved was completely overlooked.
