You play as Celeste (name subject to change), a half-angel valkyrie who was raised to fight demonkind on behalf of the Elysian Church. Unfortunately, the church itself is corrupt and eventually betrays her. Right before the cardinal kills her, Celeste gets an offer from the very demon lord that she was fighting earlier.

On the way to Arowar, be sure to save the man in the bag, who turns out to be the farmer Gustav. He'll give you access to his crops and teach you a recipe.
In Arowar Outskirts, there's this musical key you can grab, though I never figured out how to use it.
To get lowered corruption, you have to listen to Riliane and surrender to the guards. This sounds really stupid, but it'll work out somehow.
Unfortunately, despite Archimedes trying to stick up for the Valkyrie, the other guards still want to execute her. This will result in a mission where you control Riliane solo as she stealths her way into saving the Valkyrie. Despite her newfound sword skills, Riliane cannot beat the mobs by herself, so she must hide in the shadows when necessary. You'll have to get a key from the Valkyrie's cell to get to Alastar, who has the key to the cell. When fighting him, be sure to guard when he charges up.
Unfortunately, when you make it back, the Valkyrie is already taken to the guillotine. Make your way over there and you'll have to fight Alastar again, though you get Archimedes while Alastar gets some troops as allies.
Gaia will save the Valkyrie at the last minute, giving you a party of four. Unlike me, you should try to defeat all the wandering guards. It's tough if you're overleveled, but if you defeat all the enemies in a mob, you can get a corpse to appear so you can either use requiem or soul extraction. Just be sure to get all of them, since you won't be able to return here depending on your choices.
You can now grab Excalibur east of Gustav's farm, but it won't be fully powered at the moment.
