You play as Celeste (name subject to change), a half-angel valkyrie who was raised to fight demonkind on behalf of the Elysian Church. Unfortunately, the church itself is corrupt and eventually betrays her. Right before the cardinal kills her, Celeste gets an offer from the very demon lord that she was fighting earlier.

The dev claims that Hellish Yard is balanced despite Garden of Eden being made first, so I may as well try it. Worst case scenario, I can always grind like a maniac.
For some reason, the two paladins, Alexei and Archimedes, are merely covering other sections of the Ramarian Keep, while the Valkyrie has to fight through the middle path by herself. Be sure to kill all the enemies in the basement, since you can use that place as a healing spot. Also, I have no clue how to get to the enemy in that locked cell. Maybe Malayna put the shade there as punishment?
If you don't kill all the seemingly passive guards, they will join in during the boss fight. I have no idea if there is any benefit to leaving them alive, but doing so will make it damn near impossible to get the achievement for keeping more than 25% HP in the boss fight.

She uses a combination of physical attacks and fire, so you'll have to be mindful of the burn status effect. More enemies will appear during the battle, but if you killed all the guards, only weak shades will appear. Eventually, Malayna will start buffing herself and using a powerful sword combo every few turns. Unlike me, you may want to see if you can figure out the interval for that super skill, just so you can guard during it. Though you should be able to survive it as long as you keep your HP above half.
Afterwards, Malayna warns Valkyrie that her views on good and evil are too simplistic, which is proven true when the paladins knock her out. Turns out Cardinal Alfredus Marian thinks the Valkyrie has outlived her usefulness and now wants to extract her holy power. Malayna turns out to be not quite dead, and offers to turn Valkyrie into a demon so she can live. If you refuse, Valkyrie dies and you get a bad ending, but you also learn that one of the cloaked NPCs is against what just happened.
