The stream is in support of our good pal Joey Versoza, a high school art teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio who teaches a class on video game art history. Joey wants his students to be able to study early video game art as authentically as possible, so MiSTer's versatile ability to run many platforms with a variety of video output methods makes for the best way to achieve this. He's hoping to be able to purchase multiple MiSTer setups to give each student as much access as possible. We think it's a great cause that will inspire the next generation of video game artists and preservationists.
Your gift will go to support Purcell Marian's art program, and course "Art History of the Video Game." Due to the course's unique focus on the art history of video games, a topic not covered in many schools, funding for necessary course materials are difficult to secure.
In the course "Art History of the Video Game" classes will approach the MiSTer as an interactive video game museum, not just a gaming device. Students will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning with a huge catalogue of persevered works while they simultaneously consider the intentions of the creators and designers - the cultural contexts from which the games were made, and an in-depth analysis of each games formal qualities.
Your support helps fund the materials to make this course a success - introducing students to multi-media as an art form, and allowing critical, hands-on analysis of some of our most beloved cultural artifacts.
