Shadow of the colossus, one of the best games on the Playstation 2, in my opinion a game that really translates videogames as an art form. However, Is this book doing the same?, lets figure out together. (SOTC art book/game guide japanese version review)

There is nothing better out there; and maybe will never be.

Ok to put one thing clear, this book IS a strategy guide combined with illustrations and in game screenshots. Because of this there is a couple of things I would like to say if you were planning to buy this. If you cant speak Japanese and do want a guide, well of course this is not for you, however if you want to buy it pure for the art, Again this is not for you as there is very little art in this. The book explains each colossus as a guide with some illustrations, the start and end of the book has some illustration, which are great but most of them very small. I got this book for my birthday hoping to see more hand drawn art, simply I was disappointed, however do I think it's a bad buy? well actually no, I personally get inspiration out of this as a writer and artist as I it gave some ideas for a future book I want to write.

However a lot of books such as pure art books from final fantasy bravely default Zelda etc can give more inspiration , which sell for similar price range, and are mostly hardcover and not paperback like this one. So basically, only buy this if you're a shadow colossus fan who can find inspiration out of this, or can read Japanese and use it as a game guide, however the internet has probably better guides than this one. So this book is very specific and only for a small number of people, if you don't like what you see in the video, that I wouldnt buy it if I were you. Anyways thanks for watching and stay awesome!
