The Art of Bravely Default (Review)
42The art of Bravely Default (videogame artbook), a book full of illustrations from the classical job system with some artist comments on most of them. I will quickly review this book (2019 published), as it is one of my favorite in my current videogame art book collection.

Two things out of the way, this book is purely for art, not an in game guide book or specific character information collection, so it delivers on illustrations and concept art while in development. It has 256 pages, the first 30 is mainly focused on character illustrations, pages till 130 on job system the rest divided on scenery, monster and other development artwork. The quality of paper and illustrations are excellent, and the book feels defiantly worth your money. Please note, Its similar to the 2013 version, so if you have that one already this won't add anything worthwhile. Many of the illustrations contains the developers team content. Interestingly the artist said he mainly draws chibi characters and had hard time creating full blow illustrations, but as we can see he did an excellent job.
So who should buy this? And what purpose could it serve? If you’re a diehard fan you should have bought the one in 2013 already, as an artist and/or writer this book can be helpful to use as references for fanart, original character design or inspiration to draw or write fantasy. If you collect artbooks, then this is perfect, as it fits in with other video game art books with its high quality and beautiful cover art.
