The Art of Mana La Bible visuelle ultime, a pure art book which covers all major games in the series. Even though this is the French edition the pictures are still as amazing as the games, let's look into it.

So right off the bat this book is not a guide whatsoever and does not describe a lot, just some comments here and there on the pictures and the creators comments in the end. The book has 208 pages and sows the games: Mystic quest, Seiken densetsu final fantasy gaiden, adventures of mana, secret of mana, Seiken densetsu 3, Dawn of mana, legend of mana, sword of mana, children of mana, and the rest of mana. Its hardcover with great quality paper as expected.

Its starts off with the first mana game on the gamboy mystic quest, with cool pictures of the original game and the re-releas versions. Second the most familiar Secret of mana on the super nintendo. Interestingly next to the gorgeous artwork from the re-release - the original used a plushy flammy and clay versions of the three main heroes. Third in the line is of course seiken densetsu 3, with awesome manga 90's style with some modern artwork in between. I like how they highlight all the characters memorable events on page 56 till 61.

Dawn of mana, a game on the playstation 2, has in my opinion great illustrations and I love that this book focused on the artwork and not the in game graphics for all the games, however they do have some pictures of the concept art showing how in game mechanics should work in dawn of mana was is quite interesting. Halfway through the book starts my second favorite mana game, legend of mana on the playstation 1, the artwork is simply next level it has the curved lining with watercolor style art. I love how the artwork and in game graphics are so true to eachother. In my opinion the art of legend of mana rises above the rest. Anyways the other games sword of mana and children of mana which have a similar drawing style but a bit less mystique in it - as if it was focused for younger audiences. The other mana series follow this trend, but rise of mana has some beautiful work.

Let's cut to the chase - Do I recommend this book? well this is French and so maybe not for everyone, even though I can only read and speak a minor bit of it, I mainly bought it for its excellent art showcase. For me this is in my top 5 art books that i have, and yes actually.... I have a nice collection - so more reviews to come. Anyways if you liked it leave a like and if you want to check some other cool art books just subscribe, helps me out a ton. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Thanks for watching and stay awesome!
