A more serious attempt at what will hopefully be my entry to AGDQ in the future... if i ever get around to submitting it... updated the title to reflect category now that others have ran this.

Ascendancy was a click turn strategy made my logic Factory back in 1995. It won the Software Publisher's Association Codie Award for Best Strategy Software of 1996. Tons of hours of fun were to be had.

There are 4 ways to win:
1: Kill all other races
2: Ally up with every race
3: Control 2/3rds of the galaxy
4: Capture the homeworlds of every species.

For this run, I determined the fastest way to win is by capturing all the opposing species home world.

Settings i took and why:
1: Vacuous Star Cluster - This guarantees the opposing species will spawn in close by. Easier to fly to their home worlds before they can put up orbital shields.

2: Three Species - Only me + two random species. You have a max two ships allowance in the beginning. This means i only need to capture two home worlds. if there was more species then id have to rebuild or refit my ships and take more time.

3: Peaceful atmosphere - This is essentially a passive/easy mode. Under Neutral atmosphere one opposing species will declare war on you soon after first contact. Since i am going straight for invasion, i have no planetary defense and losing my one planets equals gg
This also allows me to orbit their planets. if you orbit a planet owned by another species they will declare war and shoot it down (if possible).
In Hostile Atmosphere all species (except 1) will declare war on you soon after first contact and will instantly invade you since they are aware of your locations and already loading invasion modules.
It is important to capture all the planets at once. if you capture one specie's planet without declaring war then there is a chance the other(s) will declare war on you.

4: Kambuchka - Their special ability allows them to 'see' the home worlds of other species. this means on a small galaxy i can make an educated navigational attempt to fly directly to their planets and capture them.

Majority of this game is pure RNG:

Your colony's initial start is RND
Your planet is RNG
The amount of planets in your starting system is RNG
The specialize squares on your planet is RNG
The placements of the specialize squares is RNG
The solar system is partly RNG (Red Lines)
The Enemy species is RNG
The list goes on

AI always builds/researches faster and already knows the whole map system and your location. The game is actually very unfairly built towards the player. But the AI was very weak and would result into being push overs or spend hours flying away. this meant you could not proceed to the next day without the warning of enemy ship in ur system. and if you do not address this it will destroy your ships/planets since your ships AI will not combat it unless you do manually
