Assault Android Cactus: 4P (3AI) Aubergine vs. Convection (16.5)
Assault Android Cactus (PC/Steam)
Early Access Version 150512 (2015 May 12)
Stage 5-3: Convection (16.5)
4P run (with 3 A.I. Partners) using Aubergine
So... one of the EX Options introduced back in Update 12.0 (Alpha) was "A.I. Partners" (AIP)... and I finally got around to testing it out a bit. ^_^
AIP basically allows you to play 2P-4P games, by filling in any missing players with characters (randomly selected, I think) controlled by the game's playable-character A.I. So if you only have three players, but you want to play a 4P game, the game can add 1 A.I. teammate. If you only have one player, but you want to play a 3P game, the game can add 2 A.I. teammates. And so on.
I decided to try a 3-A.I. 4P game on Convection. =) After a bit of testing, I came to a couple conclusions about 4P-3AI Convection:
1) It's wonderfully chaotic. =)
2) The "low health" audio warning isn't very useful, since it seems to be going off... well, not quite constantly, but definitely a lot (due to the A.I. teammates not having very good dodging skills in general, and against the floor heat in particular). After a while, I just ignored it, and instead, simply tried to glance at my health meter in the corner every once in a while... at least, when the on-screen chaos safely permitted it. ^^;
3) Sycle (of Witch Beam) was right: the A.I. partners aren't very smart. =) They're actually the same as the A.I. used in Attract Mode, and if you've watched Attract Mode for any decent amount of time, I'm sure you've seen the A.I. make a questionable decision or two before (for example, Holly firing a fully-charged cannonball at a low-health enemy that's right next to a wall). However, they definitely do contribute. I've definitely benefitted from an A.I. teammate destroying a high-health enemy, or grabbing a battery, or picking up a Shutdown at just the right time...
Anyway, after many many tries (and failures), I finally managed to make it through the chaos that is 4P-3AI Convection without getting knocked down... and with an unbroken chain! =) It was stressful. And fun. At the same time. =) Anyway, here it is... hope you enjoy!
