Assault Android Cactus: A guide to beating Justice (High-Intermediate)
Assault Android Cactus (PC/Steam), Early Access Version 140527
(note: I hit the character limit, so I'm going to have to condense some stuff, or refer you to the video descriptions of the other videos. Sorry about that. =/ )
WHAT IS THIS VIDEO?
This video is a guide to help you beat stage 3-5 (Justice) for the first time. It is not a guide on how to S+ him or get a high score... just to beat him. =)
(see description in Beginner video for more info)
Anyway, let me know (post in the comments) if this video was helpful to you or not, and in what way. The feedback will be useful if I decide to do another project like this again (it's a lot of work, though, so no promises).

INFO, TIPS, AND STRATEGY FOR SKILL LEVEL: High-Intermediate
The main strategy in this video is to try to stay close to Justice (within Flamethrower range), but try to avoid knockdowns by dodging, strafing, and especially circling... and to try to pick up nearby Powerups when they're Blue or Red.
Same as Low-Intermediate strategy: Use the Flamethrower as much as possible; shoot some of the laser emitters, but don't spend too much time doing this.
Similar to Low-Intermediate strategy: Try to get the battery by circling, strafing, or dodging, but if you have to get knocked down to get the battery, that's fine too; Blue Powerups are recommended, but if Blue isn't available, Red is okay too.
Additional strategy (what):
1) In Phases 1 and 3, circle Justice to fairly easily avoid his laser attacks. If the laser grid prevents you from circling, either destroy the appropriate emitters, or dodge by strafing and when not dodging, move in close to attack with the Flamethrower.
2) In Phase 2, stay on the clockwise side of Justice, and attack him with the Flamethrower as much as possible. When he does the Speed Down shockwave, trick him into charging towards the wall (see video), and you should fairly easily be able to avoid him... and after he bounces off the wall, you'll still be close to him, on the clockwise side (where you want to be), when he starts moving again.
Additional strategy (why):
1) Circling Justice while attacking with the Flamethrower is probably the easiest way to both avoid his laser attacks and deal damage to him at the same time. If you get knocked down while circling, just get right back up and start circling (and attacking) again.
2) If you're on the clockwise side of Justice, he'll be moving towards your attacks, which means that fewer missiles will get in your way than if you attacked from any other direction. That means more of your attacks will hit Justice, and you'll be able to do more damage, more quickly. =)
- Also, if you can grab a Red or Blue Powerup during Phase 2, you can get some extra damage, allowing you to finish off the phase more quickly. But as shown in the video, it's not absolutely necessary.
Things to practice:
From the Beginner video: Practice getting up quickly after getting knocked down (use two buttons instead of one); practice switching to and firing your secondary weapon right after getting up.
From the Low-Intermediate video: Practice waiting for colored Powerups to change color; wait by Yellow to get Blue.
Additional:
a) Practice circling Justice (in Phases 1 and 3) without getting too close. Once you get the hang of this, you'll be able to apply a lot more uninterrupted Flamethrower damage.
Other tips:
From the Beginner video: Don't attack Justice's front arms in Phase 1 (he's wearing shields).
From the Low-Intermediate video: Leave one or two Powerups on the field before finishing Phase 1, so you'll have them to pick up during Phase 2.
Additional:
- In Phase 1, once you get a feel for when the leash-globes get released, it can be helpful to back away and strafe them (like I do in this video), so they're too far away to leash you. If you have trouble destroying them quickly, and one does leash you, you can always just let yourself get knocked down by a laser (the leash-globes will ignore you while you're down), then quickly get up and start attacking Justice with the Flamethrower.
Hope that helps, and good luck!
