Assault Android Cactus: (no-Powerups, no Control nodes) Aubergine vs. Control S+
Assault Android Cactus+ (PC(W,M,L)/Steam)
Version 190430s (2019 Apr 30)
Campaign
Stage 5-2: Control
No Powerups used
& no Control nodes used
S+ run using Aubergine
So, my first video of the year! ^_^
This is something I've been thinking about for a while. I was pretty sure I could manage a "no Powerups used" run of Control, by taking advantage of the Control Nodes (especially the Mega Plasma Field node, which can protect against pretty much everything except lasers and missiles!). But a "no powerups, no nodes" run... I was a little less sure about... but I decided to give it a try. ^^;
And sure enough, my first several runs went pretty badly. =p But after stumbling upon the obvious realization that "on top of a control node" was the best place to put the powerups (since we're tying to avoid stepping on the nodes anyway!), and then figuring out a relatively reliable way to get them to drop there... things started going, well, a little better.
There were still a couple sections that definitely required some extra work... especially that part where the mine canisters first appear! ^^;; I actually got lucky the first time I got there, and managed to pass that section without too much difficulty... but later runs definitely reinforced that I had to figure out a more specific strategy there. ^.^; Fortunately, I figured out something that seemed to work pretty well... and that's what I used in this run. =)
Oh, a quick note. This run isn't my first ever "no powerups, no nodes" S+. Unfortunately, there was a minor audio glitch in that recording... so I decided to re-record the run. ^^; On the plus side, though, despite a couple close calls... overall, the run actually went a bit better this time, so... =)
So anyway, here's the video! Hope you enjoy!
[Oh, and another quick note - for most of the past year, I've been going at a "new video approximately every 3 days" pace... and hopefully the extra videos have been helpful and/or entertaining in some way for at least some of you! Of course, this is definitely a faster long-term pace than I'm used to, so naturally, it has been gradually taking its toll. Not in a significantly worrisome way (yet)... but in the interest of long-term stability, I'm probably going to be going back to a slightly more relaxed pace sometime before next month. =) In addition to long-term stability benefits, hopefully this will also free up some time for both some youtube-related and non-youtube-related projects I've kind of been putting off over the past couple months, too. ^.^]
