Assault Horizon: Avoiding DFM - Launch
122You know, I think it's kind of telling that this mission is most remembered for the damned ICBM, when it's only the very last part of the mission and most it is spent in a bomber, a first for the series. That's just how awful that ICBM is. What about the rest? Well... I have mixed opinions, really. Flying a bomber is an interesting novelty, and the canyon run and guided bomb ASM sections are actually enjoyable. But at the same time, wouldn't it just be better with an attacker? And bombers can work without ASM, as ACI has proven, so maybe they have a future in the series? I honestly don't know, there are honestly good arguments for and against. Time will tell, I suppose.
One thing's for sure, you won't see me flying the B-2. Only has stealth going for it and it only looks good from one angle. The B-1, though, looks as good as a massive bomber could ever look. And you know, since I'm flying one bomber, why not fly two? It's hilarious they classified the Su-24 Fencer, a large, side-by-side two-seater tactical bomber as a fighter. Technically, the Su-24MP is an electronic warfare aircraft - and a rare one, only 10 made - but that just raises the question of why they even chose that variant, and it's not like that makes it more of a fighter. That was corrected in ACI, but regardless, it's always nice to see a new aircraft being introduced to AC - and the Fencer's one of the best ones they could dig up.
