Astro Bot: A Wonderous and Refreshing Platformer (Review)
11The platformer is a genre that has had deep roots in the world of video games, and the 3D platformer is one of the genres that pioneered evolved and shaped the world of video games as we know it today, with iconic games like Mario, Crash Bandicoot or even Jax and Daxter to name a few. There has been an absence of the Platformer mascot and it is something that was very much a product of its time.
Astro Bot feels like a call back to those days of old, but in a modern sense, where Astro may not be the most distinct mascot to grace a console, but the atmosphere, worlds, and creative use of the PS5's DualSense controller embrace the feeling and sense of wonder of an era passed and feels up there with the likes of innovators and juggernauts like Mario Wonder in ushering in a new one.
