In which I play "Mirax Force", published by Tynesoft in 1987 and programmed by Chris Paul Murray.

It's a fast-moving game. The objective is to destroy the warships over which the player flies, destroying things on the surface of the ship and fighting off unending swarms of enemy fighters. It is a nice-looking affair, with very smooth scrolling, and the controls are reasonable. It's a bit too easy to collide with things on the warship as the things your ship will collide with just don't stand out, visually. The collision detection with enemy fighters is equally unforgiving, and it's common for your shots to go right through them, which is frustrating. A bit more tweaking, and this would have been great. As it is, it's a good game, but really tough.
