Atari Anthology - PS2 - Breakout
A gameplay session of Breakout on Atari 2600, going through all 12 single player variations.
After playing a couple of the clones on this compilation, it's time for the original. This bat and baller was released as an arcade cab in 1976, making it one of the oldest video games of all time. The Atari version came out in 1978.
It's designed for a paddle controller and playing with a regular controller is quite tricky, especially once the ball starts speeding up. I did as best as I could for this session, but I won't be clearing the screen any time soon.
The hard setting makes the bat smaller, I figured it wasn't even worth attempting that without a paddle. The timed setting is supposed to be how quick you can clear the screen, but as that's almost impossible without a paddle, it could also be used to see how long you can keep the ball in play (except with the "catch" variation obviously).
