Atari XE Console Unboxing and Review
Even after Atari had played a huge role in destroying the video game market, they didn't hesitate at all to return to it once Nintendo had brought it back from the dead. The Atari 7800 was Atari's main competitor against the Nintendo Entertainment System, although I suppose they thought that wasn't enough so they released the Atari XE Home Video Game Console as well to try and claim back their share of the market.
The Atari XE Console is a modified version of an Atari XE Computer which is made to look and operate more like a home console would. Aside from the typical Atari 2600 controller that it comes bundled with it also includes a Light Gun much like the Zapper for the NES, as well as a Keyboard which could be used with various programs and games. The Atari XE Home Video Game Console is also backwards compatible with pretty much all Atari XL cartridges, as I show in the video.
The Console comes in a massive box, within which is three layers of styrofoam where the console and all of its accessories are stored. The box itself is bigger than the original PlayStation 3 box, and the weight of the console and massive power brick make it even heavier as well. Unfortunately my box is in a bit of rough shape, although it's not super easy to find so I suppose that I cannot complain. I also usually don't get it out too often due to its size, which is why I figured this would finally be the perfect time for me to do a review of it, since I needed to get it out for something anyway. Overall the Atari XE isn't the worst Video Game Console ever made, although it does have some flaws.
I hope that you enjoy my unboxing and review of this crazy old console that not many people have even heard about. Please feel free to leave comments down below if you have any feedback or suggestions!
