Audio Setup Test: Comparing Recording and Mixing Techniques for Electric Guitar
In this YouTube shorts video, I conducted a comprehensive test comparing three different audio setups for recording and mixing electric guitar. I wanted to determine which setup yields the best sound quality and overall experience.
In the first example, I used a single microphone to record the guitar amplifier, creating one audio track. This track was then duplicated and used for the left and right stereo channels.
For the second example, I employed two microphones simultaneously to capture the amplifier's sound. Each microphone was recorded separately, resulting in two audio files. These files were placed in the left and right stereo channels, providing a more immersive stereo effect.
In the third example, I followed the same approach as the second one but intentionally introduced a slight delay of approximately 4 milliseconds in one of the audio files. As a result, these two files are out of sync, highlighting the impact of timing on the overall audio quality.
Throughout the video, I recommend viewers use headphones better to discern any audible differences between the three example recordings. The setups utilized for this test include a VOX Valvetronix AD 50 VT guitar amp, two Shure SM57 microphones, and a Zoom H6 portable recorder.
