8There is much to uncover in Death's Door, but in order to get through the "Big Door" first we have to go through other big doors that are fueled by cells and stuff. Nothing macabre here, nothing at all. Fortunately, at the end of the tunnel is a nice, friendly, large, sparkly treasure chest. Certainly something shiny enough that a crow can't resist. Right?
Death's Door is a game that combines flowing combat and exploration through a beautifully handcrafted world as one Crow goes on a quest to solve and/or cheat Death while making a few friends along the way. There are secrets around many corners, and plenty of interesting characters to meet. Its DNA has a lot of Zelda with hints of Metroid, Hades, and Dark Souls...among many other things. This is not a roguelike or a roguelite. This is a 2D action game through and through, and it is well worth your time and attention. Devolver Digital just keeps publishing hits. This game has everything. Great writing. Intense action. Excellent presentation. Beautiful art. Excellently placed music. Shiny things.
