According to Deadline, a red-hot package is assembling ahead of the Cannes Film Festival, where it’ll be shopped to buyers to secure financing and distribution. It’s a spy thriller called 355, and the idea originated from Jessica Chastain who will lead an incredible ensemble cast that includes Lupita Nyong’o, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, and Fan Binging. As for the director, Chastain has enlisted her X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg to take the helm, while award-winning playwright Theresa Rebeck will write the script.
In a wide ranging interview between Collider’s very own Steve Frosty Weintraub and MCU mastermind Kevin Feige, the question about the title for Avengers 4 was raised - namely - about the ongoing fan theory that it will be titled “Infinity Gauntlet.” In discussing the possible title, Feige debunked it saying “That is definitely not what it is called”, and added that his favorite wrong theory about Infinity War is Avengers 4 being called Infinity Gauntlet.
According to a report from THR, Alexandre Aja, the horror filmmaker behind Piranha 3D and the Joe Hill adaptation Horns, is set to helm the “self-contained thriller” entitled Crawl; produced by Sam Raimi and set to be distributed by Paramount Studios.
According to Variety, via an announcement on the Rock’s instagram account, John Cena is in talks to star in Universal Pictures’ The Janson Directive, with Dwayne Johnson producing through his Seven Bucks Productions. The action-thriller was originally being developed with Johnson attached to star, but sources say given his busy schedule, Johnson and the studio decided it was best move along with Johnson as a producer.
According to a report at THR, Hasbro has inked a deal with Saban Properties to acquire Power Rangers and a host of other entertainment brands as part of a cash and stock deal valued at $522 million. The toy maker also picks up the My Monster Pet, Popples, Julius Jr., Luna Petunia and Treehouse Detectives entertainment properties from media mogul Haim Saban.
